Collections
NU | Permanent Collection
A permanent collection of statement beaded classics featuring the maison’s legacy signature ‘NU’ icon shaped in the wireframe of the horseshoe – a symbol of luck and fortune for new beginnings.
Behind the icon
The NU icon was the first design created to mark the début launch of Maison Mugen's journey as a fine jewellery brand. Inspired from her penchant for puzzles, Ying, the founder, explored the folklores of lucky charms and created a minimalistic wire puzzle piece in the shape of the horseshoe – a symbol of luck that would be apt for the maison’s new beginning.
Uncluttered Functionality
In its literal sense, the name ‘NU’ (pronounced as “neu”) was derived from the resemblance of the letters ‘n’ and ‘u’ when the icon is flipped. The NU element explores the notion of uncluttered functionality; the essence of this design focuses on the simplistic latch mechanism that locks the stone bead against the precisely calculated gap of the buckle.
Natural Stone Classics
Hematite is the main stone used in the pieces of the NU collection, with the core range including precious and semi-precious natural stones such as Lapis Lazuli, White Tridacna and Black Onyx. Seasonal collections are released as limited editions that feature unique stone combinations.
RUBIK | Core Collection
A modernist collection of coloured precious gemstones set in our signature four-point RUBIK™ tension setting. The gemstones are suspended on four points of a pyramidal cubic structure, resembling the familiar shapes of the “Paku Paku” fortune teller origami.
Behind the icon
As an exploration of the sentimental theme of 'Objects of Fancy,' RUBIK takes on a whimsical, edgy twist on the familiar shapes of the 'Paku Paku' paper origami fortune teller. The idea of finding a treasured gem in a fortune told from the choices we make is central to the RUBIK collection. It reminds us to indulge in the present as a part of the future.
Iconic RUBIK™ Setting
RUBIK is a modernist collection of coloured precious gemstones set in our signature four-point RUBIK™ stone setting. The gemstones are suspended on four points of a pyramidal cubic structure, resembling the familiar shapes of the “Paku Paku” paper origami.

Spell C-O-L-O-U-R
Colours were primary elements of a Paku Paku game. The core gemstones for RUBIK relates back to the bold colours of a Rubik's cube with an influence from the founder’s background in graphic design. The RGB and CMYK colour models were referenced: Red (Garnet), Green (Emerald), Blue (Blue sapphire), Cyan (Aquamarine), Magenta (Pink Tourmaline), Yellow (Golden Topaz), Black (Black Zirconia).

Size Guide
Ring
The Hands-on Method
Follow these instructions to find your perfect size.
- Grab a tape measure, length of string or strip of paper.
- Wrap it around the finger you’ll wear your ring on—if you’re creating a ring stack, consider where on your finger the ring will sit—and mark the place where it joins.
- Lay your string or paper strip on a flat surface and use a ruler to measure the length up to the mark. Use the chart to match the measurement to the closest the ring size.
Measure an Existing Ring
A helpful method if you’re surprising someone with a gift or treating yourself.
- Choose a ring that already fits your finger well.
- Measure the interior diameter of the ring in millimeters (mm).
- Use the measurement chart above to match the size of your ring to the closest size in mm.
Bracelet
Size your cuffs and bangles to fit snugly, and your link and chain bracelets with a touch of breathing room to allow for movement.
- Grab a tape measure, length of string or strip of paper.
- Wrap it around the wrist you’ll wear your bracelet on. Mark the place where it joins. Creating a stack? Measure where on your arm you’ll wear each bracelet.
- Lay your string or paper strip on a flat surface and use a ruler to measure the length up to the mark.
Necklaces
Necklaces vary by chain length. The circumference of your neck and size of the pendant will impact how your necklace sits on its own and with other styles.
- Measure and cut a piece of string to the same length as the necklace you’re eyeing.
- Place it around your neck to see where it falls—the key to layering is striking the right balance. Consider the size and shape of the pendant.
- Repeat the process to see how necklaces of different lengths may look together.

How should I store my silver?
Silver should be kept absolutely dry. If your silver is used frequently, keep it away from excessive exposure to air and store it in a tarnish-proof cloth pouch. If your climate is humid, place a small packet of desiccant crystals inside your storage area, whether it is a closed box or a flannel roll. Avoid contact with rubber bands or other rubber products. The sulfur in rubber causes tarnishing and corrosion.
How do I care for my sterling silver jewellery?
Sterling silver is a precious metal and may require cleaning from time to time. Using a small amount of silver jewellery cleaner on a soft cloth, gently rub the silver several times. Then rinse the silver thoroughly in warm water and carefully dry. This will remove the tarnish and dullness, keeping your sterling silver like new. Please note: chlorine and bleach accelerate tarnishing and should be avoided.
